Light laser pistol
A Light Laser Pistol shares the same damage, power usage, and range as the "standard" laser pistol, but cannot channel as much energy. It is therefore limited to a setting of 5 SEU/shot or less. In addition, if set to maximum, the rate-of-fire is reduced to 1 per turn to avoid overheating. They are, however, slightly cheaper than standard ones, and a little simpler to maintain (+15% to any repair check).
The term "light" refers to their damage potential. They are slightly bulkier than normal laser pistols, based as they are on older technology
In some places, light laser pistols are the maximum type of such weapons permitted for non-governmental possession.
