Lynchpin System
Moonworld is the only habitable planet in the Lynchpin system, so named for the nine moons in orbit.
Overview[]
The entire planet, along with its nine attendant moons and stations, is a single, huge military-industrial complex under the direct control of the United Planetary Federation and Spacefleet.
All industrial, mining and agricultural efforts in the system are dedicated to maintaining this military-industrial complex, with everything conducted under tight military security, so access to the system is highly restricted.
The permanent civilian population is mostly Human and quite significant; although the specific numbers are classified, the UPF Office of Planetary Census classifies Moonworld as "Heavily Populated".
The planetary capital is the Administrative Military Complex Stronghold; a sprawling complex of fortified buildings surrounded by massive supporting networks of civilian communities needed for the bureaucracy to function.
Directly above Stronghold, in geosynchronous orbit, is UPF Fortress Defiant, arguably the most powerful battlestation ever seen in the Frontier.
Star Law has its own massive complex on Dillon, one of the moons. Here, Star Law has an annex of its training academy specifically for Ranger candidates.

Discovered in FY 15 by Vrusk. The system was turned over to the UPF for development as a military outpost to protect that sector of the Frontier. The system was a military secret until the middle of the Second Sathar War when the Sathar Fleet #3 attempted to circumnavigate the Greater Morass in FY 96.8. This fleet was engaged by long-range fighters from Moonworld. Having no knowledge of the outpost in the system, the Sathar attacked, expecting to find a single spaceship; instead, the Battle of Moonworld had begun.
By FY 97.1, three-quarters of Sathar Fleet #3 is destroyed. The remaining vessels are forced into the Vast Expanse and the Battle of Moonworld ends in a decisive UPF victory.
Government[]
The only government in the Lynchpin system is that of the UPF; usually through a combination of Spacefleet, Landfleet and Spacefleet Marine Corps MP's and Star Law.
There is a small free market providing goods and services for UPF personnel and the permanent civilian population, but this still falls under the jurisdiction of Star Law.
